Flicka go out?
When the movie Flicka on DVD? Thankz
I found this on the rotten tomatoes chestnuts old horse "My Friend Flicka" is renewed in a generic form of the singular "Flicka," a drama quite amusing that finally turns to weight down to Michael Mayer. Back to the novel by Mary O'Hara-inspired darker, the film features fine performances by Maria Bello date, the singer Country Tim McGraw and Alison Lohman young, but do not transmit the spirit stirring version 1943. Although this is aimed at preteens women right angle, with Roddy Ken McLaughlin McDowall original character has been transformed into a Katy, which target demographic was not exactly the tavern brake on their own films, if less than stellar results titles like "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and "Aquamarine" are any indication. While the Fox 2000 production theater will probably fail, you can always put up a little dust on poultry DVD. Back at the family farm McLaughlin in remote Wyoming (widely distributed by Los Angeles) after being away to private school, Katy 16-year Lohman is a filly wild in the mountains he calls Flicka, which they say means "pretty girl" in Swedish. Katy is desperate for keep the horse despite the objections of the father as a volunteer, Rob (McGraw, who made an impressive debut acting in 2004 with "Friday Night Lights") determined to prove they can make the hardware. For some reason, he can not see that Katy and Flicka are kindred spirits, even if the director Mayer ("A Home at the End of the World") and screenwriters Mark Rosenthal and Lawrence Konner (responsible for the remake of "Mighty Joe Young" Planet of the Apes "and" Desperate Hours ") custody of hard hitting that point. There are other things threaten to separate the family McLaughlin, including the obligation to sell the ranch and the struggle Katy Ryan Kwanten) brother Howard plans (unannounced-or-go to college in Boston instead follow the footsteps of his father. That leaves Mom Nell (the always reliable Bello) to try to keep together. It is certainly not help much Mayer, whose work on the floating stage - including the Broadway productions of "thoroughly modern Millie" and "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" - is far from being seen in this app, the goal of producing excessively. Although the performances are uniformly credible, the viewer is not give a true sense of the implied link between the girl and the wild mustang. It is cheap in this production, sad, where storms hold the meeting in any rain. The production values are respectable, photo J. Michael Wall put his experience working in the open ("Open Range" " Crash "), to use it here, but producers Aaron Zigman rating becomes interrupted by annoying songs stay with the wild horses and the weight of the world, just in case you somehow have not yet gotten the message. FLICKA 20th Century Fox, Fox 2000 Pictures presents a Gil Netter production Credits: Director: Michael Mayer Screenwriter: Mark Rosenthal and Lawrence Konner Based on the novel "My Friend Flicka" by Mary O'Hara Producer: Cinematographer Gil Netter: J. Michael Wall Production Designer: Sharon Seymour Editor: Andrew Marcus Costumes: Molly Maginnis Music: Aaron Zigman Cast: Katy McLaughlin Rob McLaughlin Alison Lohman: Nell Tim McGraw McLaughlin McLaughlin Maria Bello Howard: Ryan Kwanten Gus Dallas Roberts Norbert Rye Nick Searcy Duration - 94 minutes MPAA Rating: PG, and film critic William Arnold PI Back in the late 80s, some bad statistical persuaded Hollywood powers that men in general and youth in particular, have been half viewers of his films, and that women - particularly teenagers and young children - a demographic group were impotent. Movie Review FLICKA Director: Michael Mayer Cast: Alison Lohman, Tim McGraw, Maria Bello DURATION: 94 minutes Rating: PG for some mild language GRADE: B + links / TRAILERS official website ยท Gallery View all photos since then, despite this false wisdom has been disproved repeatedly, almost all movies seem to be intended to young male audience. And even the few films with young actors seem to be a girl for children. The best that can be said of "Flicka" - Fox retreaded founded child of his 1943 film, "My Friend Flicka" - Is it pure and fearless daughter of a film-and-his-horse does not seek to please everyone. Only loosely based on the original film, TV series in 1956 and Mary O'Hara's novel that inspired the film both a switch gender, by transforming the original hero of the child in Katy (Alison Lohman), a girl 16 years of life in the contemporary family ranch in Wyoming. Katy love this life and his dream is to broadcast a day, but want better things for herself, her father (Tim McGraw) has been sent to school, where she is miserable and a bad student who is about to fail. Although the cottage was, it is a Mustang, and when the horse is adopted, the name "Flicka" and comes to identify with his rebellion against civilization, which is something collision course with his father, who sees the animal as a threat. As this family crisis is worked through the process of a summer of adventures, the greatest movie Lohman disadvantage may be because she is 26 and seems too old for the part - especially if you happened to see her last year in NC-17-rated "Where the Truth Lies". But it is a convincing actress, and the rest of the cast is strong, especially Maria Bello as her understanding mother and - surprisingly - Country music star McGraw, who is inexperienced and a little wood, but you need your share price with a conviction. The director Michael Mayer ("the house at the end of the world ") has created a handful stirring action sequences, which communicates the nobility of his mustang title character and the pathos it puts cash in the father-daughter conflict. Best of all, "Flicka" does not seem to yield to the dictates of Hollywood formula film, and all seems structured to evoke that special love that girls seem to feel the universal equine species. It was released in February.
